Prioritising strong communication between parents/carers and teachers throughout the year is very important at Kawana Waters State College. In particular, communication should be timely, respectful and informative.

General Parent and Teacher Communication
It is our expectation that teachers regularly communicate to parents/carers regarding:

  • the unit learning goals
  • assessment type and date of draft (where applicable) and final date
  • ways to support your child
  • reinforcing how teachers can be contacted.

Reporting
It is a requirement that students are formally reported at least twice a year in the areas of:

  • overall level of achievement for each learning area/subject
  • effort and
  • behaviour.

The primary campus parent-teacher reporting occurs twice a year:  at the end of Term One; and beginning of Term 3.

In the secondary campus reporting takes place three times a year: at the finish of Term One and at the end of semester One and Semester Two.

Student Performance Interviews
Student Performance Interviews are crucial for strong relationships between teachers and parents. For parents, these conversations can provide greater detail in regards to students progress.

Parents/carers are offered an opportunity to discuss their child's achievement, effort and behaviour at the school with their child's teachers twice a year. Our college's online booking systems for parent teacher interviews is SOBS (School Online Booking System).
